In our first training session, we are looking at one of the most fundamental submission holds in BJJ and Grappling called the Rear Naked Choke (RNC). It can be successfully applied in both Gi (kimono) and NoGi scenarios.
We start with this position, because in the back control and RNC, we are capturing the essense of Jiu-Jitsu - ability to defeat a larger and stronger opponent. Once you make your way to someone's back, their strength/size advantage will be considerably diminished.
Enjoy the video below and comment with any questions. Pay attention to the order of things and the configuarion of arms.
In fundamentas/advanced classes we are then looking at more variables in this position, hand fighting, and set ups.
